About us

SOVAmed GmbH is a technology spin-off from the University Koblenz-Landau, Germany. The company was founded in 2009 and focuses on the development of advanced visualization and image analysis software for improved clinical applications. Based on multidisciplinary research and certified processes, SOVAmed provides dedicated tools adding value and efficiency to medical workflow.

  • EXIST-Stipend: entrepreneurial founders stipend granted by the German government and the European Commission

  • Partnership with aycan Digitalsysteme (Wuerzburg, Germany) and aycan Medical Systems (Rochester, NY, USA)
  • Certification of the quality management system according to ISO 13485

2011

  • Certification of the production process for clinical software (93/42/EWG, Annex II)
  • First release of approved clinical software SOVA.evar

Cooperations

aycan Digitalsysteme and aycan Medical Systems are partners of SOVAmed in the field of OsiriX and PACS systems. The first clinical application of SOVAmed, SOVA.evar, is a visualization tool designed for the use with aycan workstation OsiriX PRO. Goal of the cooperation is the development of a modualr system of clinical applications which enable more efficient workflows within hospitals, clinics, and doctors’ offices. SOVAmed and aycan are dedicated to deliver optimal diagnostic support to vascular surgeons and radiologists.
The institute MTI Mittelrhein is a well established research institute which can rely on a clustering of expertise in medicine, computer science, and information technology in Koblenz. Thus, the institute draws on synergetic effects to the benefit of research projects as well as medical applications. SOVAmed is a technology spin-off of the research institute and continues the collaboration in several projects.

Advisory Board

Co-founder and member of the scientific advisory board of the MTI Mittelrhein. He is an interventional radiologist and senior physician, and second head of the radiology department at the German central military hospital in Koblenz, Germany.
Director of the institute for computational visualistics and full professor for computer graphics, University Koblenz-Landau, Germany. He is also member of the MTI Mittelrhein.
Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Engineering, and full professor of the chair for medical technology, RheinAhrCampus, Remagen. He is also a founding member and vice chairman of the MTI Mittelrhein.

Our company is promoted by the Innovation Fund Rhineland-Palatinate and the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE).

EXIST StipendIn the year 2009/2010 SOVAmed has been granted the stipend EXIST by the German government and the European Commission.
